Thanks for taking your time and talking to kheladi.com. kheladi.com represents the best of the entertainment,
sports and life.
Tell us your journey. How did you end up in bollywood ?
I had never planned to enter films. I never woke up in the morning and looked into the mirror thinking
I was the most good looking girl who ought to be in films..I am a graduate in business studies from Delhi University.
I was visiting a friend in Mumbai, got spotted for an ad. and one thing led to another and here I am!
I would rather be taken seriously than frivolously.
You have acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English movies. How do you manage it ? Do you speak these languages ?
No, I speak only hindi and english. But, I am a very hardworking person. Once I take on a project,
I ensure language should not hamper my performance. I am always on my toes and mugging up my lines on the sets.
I chew my assistant directors and director's brains to help me with the lines, their meanings and the way they
should be delivered. Having said that, I found it the easiest working in the languages that I understand as
then the focus is completely on performance.
You stole the show in "Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se" and was the de facto heroine. How did you prepare for the role ?
Thank you for the compliment. But, I do feel KHJJS was a complete team effort. Apart from the physical appearance
that we had to work on in terms of the hair, saree etc, I had to learn to handle my pistol. I have never fired a
gun in my life! As far as playing Preetilata Waddedar goes, I went by instinct and Ashu sir's vision.
Do you feel, the recognition of your role in "Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se" will type cast you just to serious roles ?
You know, I honestly don't have any qualms about that. The idea is to first establish myself as an actor and hopefully
then be in a position to chose. As far as the risk of being typecast is considered , I would rather be taken seriously
than frivolously:)
If you are given a chance to re-act any character in the movie (past and present), which character would you chose ?
I'd love to do Basanti from Sholay , Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill, Rani from Black!!
Tell us the new projects you are working on. Are there any new releases this year ?
Yes, my english film, "The genius of beauty" is suppose to release internationally this year.
Apart from that, hindi film releases will happen only next year. My current projects include a tamil and a hindi film but
I would rather let the producer do the talking. I am a little superstitious now.
Are you single ?
No, I am not. I am seeing someone but I am not disclosing any details:)
Who's your favorite director ?
Loads of them! The new current crop of directors like Vikram Motwane, Bijoy Nambiar, Anand Rai have unleashed
a new style of cinema. Amongst the veterans, I am absolutely biased towards Ashu sir:) However, I would love to work with
Vishal Bharadwaj, Madhur Bhandarkar, Soojit Sarkar, Anurag Kashyapmani Rathnam, Gautham Menon and MANY more!
Are you a fitness freak ? Frankly, you are envy of girls all over India. What's your secret ?
hahaaa! No! Not at all! I am not size zero! I don't work out. I love walking n cycling though. and dancing as well.
But I do eat right and wish everyone well. Guess what you are inside shows externally.
What do you look for in men ? For your fans, what can they do to have a chance to get a date with you ?
A guy ought to be well bred, well read (mind u, not a dandy though). Someone who respects women, is independent,
intelligent and with a sense of humor.
